The Nordic Light International Festival of Photography in Kristiansund, Norway, was an exciting new venture in 2006. It has since become an annual event to reckon with: a reward for making it through the storms and darkness of the long winter months in this part of the world. Elliott Erwitt, Marc Riboud, Martin Parr, Chris Rainier, Romano Cagnoni and Joël-Peter Witkin figure among the long list of internationally acclaimed photographers who have helped establish the festival's reputation during its first five years.
The glimpses above are from the walkabout on the first day of this year's festival -- headed by Artistic Director Morten Krogvold -- to open the many exhibitions which along with lectures and workshops are part of the festival offerings.
